FLUSHING, N.Y.- The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its 2025 Winter/Spring Scholar Athlete Honor Roll, with 104 student-athletes from Hunter College, the most of any institution in the conference, earning a spot.
A total of 445 student-athletes from CUNYAC's eight member institutions were named to the list for sports in the winter and spring semesters. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must participate in a varsity-level sport and own a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale.
The list includes sports that conducted their championship in the winter or spring (men's & women's basketball, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, men's volleyball, baseball, and softball) as well as varsity athletes competing in non-CUNYAC sports.
"Hunter student-athletes, and all those across CUNY, navigate the unique challenges and incredible opportunities that come with competing and learning in New York City. Having more than 100 of our Hawks recognized is a true testament to their dedication, as well as the unwavering support they receive from the entire Hunter community," said Director of Athletics Terry Wansart.
Hunter's women's indoor track and field team had the most honored athletes, with 18 from the team, the most out of any other school in that sport. Hunter also had the most student-athletes out of all institutions in women's outdoor track and field (16), women's fencing (12), men's indoor track and field (10), and swim (12). Men's outdoor track and field earned eight spots, tied for the most in CUNYAC with Medgar Evers College and The City College of New York. Also tied for the most spots was men's tennis, with seven honorees, even with Lehman, as well as women's basketball alongside CCNY with nine student-athletes being named to the list.
Hunter's wrestling team had three earning honors, including Jayden Medina, who was also a Scholar Athlete All-America selection for the 2024-25 season. Softball added 10, while men's volleyball had 11 student-athletes recognized. Men's fencing added seven to the list, followed by men's basketball with four, including Marcus Casulla, who recently was named to the 2024-25 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.
The Hawks had a slew of academic awards in the spring 2025 semester, including Conor Sullivan, who was named the conference's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, and was named to the honor roll for both his indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.
Jessica Fowler, also highlighted Hunter's honor roll selections, as she was named a salutatorian at the May 2025 commencement ceremony, and a CUNAYC Female Scholar Athlete of the Year honorable mention, alongside Nick Yao of men's volleyball, who also earned an honorable mention on the men's side for the conference.
