BRONX, N.Y. — The Hunter College women's volleyball team opened conference play in commanding fashion on Tuesday evening, sweeping Lehman College in straight sets (25-9, 25-13, 25-14) on the road.
The Hawks improved to 3-7 overall and 1-0 in CUNYAC with the win, delivering one of their most complete performances of the season with a .277 team hitting percentage, eight service aces, and 62 digs across three sets. Lehman fell to 1-5 overall with an 0-1 conference record.
Michelle Liu led the charge with nine kills on 18 attempts and added three service aces for a team-high 12.0 points.
Varvara Kudinova followed with eight kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while
Lily Mattison contributed seven kills, two aces, and five digs.
Madeline Snyder continued to orchestrate the offense effectively, tallying 27 assists to go with 13 digs and a kill. Senior
Natalie Polanco anchored the back row with a match-high 14 digs and added a service ace, while
Natalie Morrill and
Vera Montalbano combined for 11 digs and 3.5 points.
Hunter hit over .200 in every set and peaked with a .342 attack percentage in the third. The Purple and Gold never trailed in sets one and three and held Lehman to a .041 hitting percentage on the night.
The Hawks return to action this weekend at the Kean Tournament, where they will face a slate of nonconference opponents across Friday and Saturday.
