Hunter Drops Five-Set Battle in CUNYAC Clash at Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Hunter College women's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought five-set contest on the road Tuesday night, falling to Brooklyn College (25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 7-25, 15-10) on the road. With the loss, the Hawks moved to 3-13 overall and 1-1 in CUNYAC play.

Trailing two sets to none, the Purple and Gold roared back in the third and fourth frames behind a dominant offensive turnaround, forcing a fifth set for the second time this season. However, the comeback fell just short in the final frame as Brooklyn held on to secure the win.

Amina Moummad was outstanding for Hunter, posting a match-high 20 kills on 46 attempts while adding two service aces, and four digs for a team-best 22.5 points. Lily Mattison followed with 13 kills and added five digs, while Michelle Liu recorded four kills, two block solos, and four total blocks.

Madeline Snyder orchestrated the offense with 37 assists, adding 19 digs and a service ace. Theano Liodakis anchored the back line with a team-high 16 digs, while Natalie Polanco and Simone McIntyre combined for 23 digs and four service aces.

Hunter hit .084 overall but saw their best offense come in the fourth set, where they hit .429 with 14 kills and only two errors. Defensively, the Hawks racked up 80 digs, 10 block assists, and 12 service aces as a team, including three apiece from McIntyre and Deanna Vinitski.

The Hawks look to bounce back at the Centenary Tri-match this weekend where they will compete against Alfred University and hosting Centenary University on Satruday afternoon.
