Hawks Bring out the Brooms at Drew University

MADISON, N.J.-  The Hunter College men's volleyball team delivered a commanding performance Friday afternoon, sweeping Drew University in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-16. With the victory, the Hawks improved to 14-6 on the season, while the Rangers dropped to 9-11.

Hunter faced a tightly contested battle early, as the opening set was knotted at 15-15 before the Hawks surged ahead. Wyatt Kotuk and Wesley Stubbs ignited the decisive stretch, combining for four kills and four assists during a pivotal 10-1 run that carried Hunter to a 25-21 set win. Kotuk finished with 11 kills on the match, while Stubbs orchestrated the offense throughout, pacing all players with 27 assists.

The second set followed a similar script, with both teams locked at 15-15 before Hunter created separation late. Mohamed powered the Hawks during the closing push, recording six of his 13 kills in the set as Hunter secured a 25-20 advantage.

The Purple and Gold left little doubt in the third set, jumping out to an early 7-2 lead and maintaining control from start to finish to close out the match with a 25-16 victory.

As a team, the Hawks hit .279 and totaled 39 kills across the three-set sweep. Mohamed made his presence felt on both sides of the net, leading Hunter in kills and digs with 13 each. 

Hunter returns to conference play Tuesday evening, hosting Brooklyn College at the Sportsplex with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
