Hawks Sweep Brooklyn in Conference Home Match

NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team delivered another dominant conference performance Tuesday night, sweeping Brooklyn College in straight sets, 25-22, 25-14, 25-13, at the Hunter Sportsplex in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup.

With the victory, Hunter improves to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while Brooklyn falls to 8-6 overall and 2-4 in CUNYAC action.

The opening set was the most competitive of the night, with six tie scores early on before the Hawks pulled away late for a 25-22 win. Hunter then took full control of the match, hitting .571 in the second set and .474 in the third to close out the sweep.

Hunter finished the match with an efficient .429 hitting percentage, totaling 34 kills on just seven errors.

Ahmed Mohamed led the offensive effort with 11 kills on .529 hitting while adding two service aces. Emmanuel Cochran was highly efficient, recording five kills on six swings for a .667 hitting percentage, while K-Ci Akwandoh added six kills on .600 hitting along with four blocks.

Sebastian Gomez contributed five kills and three blocks, while Wesley Stubbs orchestrated the offense with 27 assists, four kills on .800 hitting, and three blocks.

Defensively, Crisostomo Ibarra led the Hawks with three digs, while Bradley Campos added six digs to anchor the back row.

Hunter also controlled the net throughout the match, totaling 16 blocks while holding Brooklyn to a .013 hitting percentage.

The Hawks return to the court on Saturday for a nonconference home tri-match against Vassar and NJCU.
