Valette Breaks Records at ECAC Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Hunter College women's swim team competed at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships this weekend, hosted by Bucknell.

Grace Valette broke her 200-yard freestyle record in the preliminary round to qualify for the finals with a time of 1:55.78. She followed that performance in the finals, touching the wall in 1:55.66 to break her own program and conference record for the second time during the meet.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Valette broke another record in the first leg, posting a time of 24.77 to surpass her previously held mark in the 50-yard freestyle. Lian Winter, Lily Bradshaw and Mia Chang teamed with her to record a finals time of 1:43.96.

Valette swam in two additional preliminary events but did not qualify for finals in the 100-yard freestyle  (53.95), and the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.02), the latter of which was a career-best.
