FLUSHING, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's tennis team opened City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play on Saturday, sweeping John Jay College, 7-0.
Hunter (1-2, 1-0 CUNYAC) controlled the match from the outset, securing the doubles point with wins at  No. 2, with the pair of Odin Dibra and Savio Francis, and at No. 3, where Nicholas Douglas and Darius Armstrong teamed up. Both positions took 6-0 wins before carrying that momentum into singles play. The Hawks dropped just five total games across all six singles flights, showcasing a complete performance in their conference opener.
The Hawks grabbed straight-set victories in all six singles matches, starting with Alexander Haigu at the top spot, and Dibra at No. 2 .
Hunter was particularly dominant in the middle of the lineup, where the No. 3 through No. 6 positions in Francis, Jason Parmar, Douglas, and Kinley Wangchuk, combined to concede just seven games overall.
The Purple and Gold return to the court on March 26, as they travel to Purchase College for a non-conference match at 3 p.m.
