NEW YORK, N.Y.- The Hunter College men's volleyball team closed out the regular season on Tuesday night, sweeping CCNY, 25-14, 25-22, 25-13, on the road in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup.
With the victory, Hunter improves to 17-8 overall and 6-2 in conference play, while CCNY falls to 7-13 overall and 2-6 in CUNYAC action.
The Hawks were efficient from the opening set, hitting .520 to take a commanding 25-14 win. The second set proved more competitive, featuring 11 tie scores, but Hunter executed late to secure a 25-22 victory. Hunter then closed out the match with its strongest offensive frame, hitting .565 in the third set to complete the sweep.
Ahmed Mohamed led the Hawks with a match-high 18 kills on .519 hitting, adding three service aces and five digs. Wyatt Kotuk contributed seven kills on .545 hitting along with three service aces, while Sebastian Gomez added seven kills on .333 hitting.
K-Ci Akwandoh delivered an efficient performance with five kills on .714 hitting, and Emanuel Cochran chipped in four kills and a block.
Wesley Stubbs directed the offense with 39 assists while adding three kills, two service aces, and seven digs. The Hawks totaled 46 kills and hit .455 as a team while adding 10 service aces.
Defensively, Hunter recorded 34 digs, with Crisostomo Ibarra leading the way with six, while Bradley Campos added steady back-row support.
The Hawks await seeding for the CUNYAC Tournament, slated to begin on April 7.Â
