Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Hawks Outlast Brooklyn, 4-3

BROOKLYN, N.Y.- Despite a two hour rain delay, the Hunter College men's tennis team closed out its conference schedule with a big 4-3 victory over Brooklyn College on Friday afternoon at the Roosevelt Courts.

With the win, Hunter improved to 4-1 in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play, earning a key result in a tightly contested matchup.

The Hawks struck first in doubles action, as Nicholas Cooper and Alexander Hagiu secured a 6-3 victory at No. 1 to give Hunter an early point. Brooklyn claimed the remaining two doubles matches, sending the contest into singles play with momentum still up for grabs.

Hunter delivered under pressure in singles, winning four of six flights to secure the match. Alexander Hagiu battled through a three-set contest at No. 2 singles to earn a crucial point, while Odin Dibra followed with a strong straight-set victory at No. 3.

Savio Francis added another key win at No. 4 singles, rallying after dropping the opening set to claim a three-set victory. Jason Parmar provided the decisive point at No. 5, winning in straight sets to clinch the match for the Hawks.

Despite falling at the top and bottom of the lineup, Hunter's depth proved to be the difference as the Hawks secured the narrow victory.

Hunter returns to the play on Monday for its final match of the regular season at Albertus Magnus.
