FLUSHING, N.Y.- The No. 2 seeded Hunter College men's tennis team advanced to the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championship final with a 4-1 victory over No. 3 Brooklyn College in the semifinal round on Saturday.
Hunter took control early by winning two of three doubles matches to secure the opening point. The No. 1 duo of Nicholas Cooper and Alexander Hagiu earned a 6-4 victory, while Jason Parmar and Nicholas Douglas followed with a 6-4 win at No. 3 to give the Hawks the edge.
In singles play, Hunter sealed the match with three straight-set victories. Alexander Hagiu led the way at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win, while Odin Dibra delivered a dominant performance at No. 2, 6-0, 6-3. Savio Francis clinched the match for the Hawks at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
With the win, the Hawks punch their ticket to the championship match, where they will face top-seeded Baruch on April 30 at 3 p.m. at the USTA.
