OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The Hunter College softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader at Stevenson on Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks were held to a 8-0 result in the opener before falling 11-2 in game two, moving to 4-18 on the season.
Game 1: Hunter 0, Stevenson 8
Hunter recorded five hits in the opening game but was unable to generate offense against Stevenson's pitching.
Brianna Flores led the Hawks with a 2-for-2 performance at the plate, while Amanda Bidinger, Sonia Rosales, and Isabella Thumhart each added a hit. Hunter put runners on in multiple innings but could not string together scoring opportunities.
Stevenson built an early lead with runs in the first and second innings before breaking the game open with a four-run third inning.
Bidinger was charged with the loss in the circle, working 4.2 innings, while the Hawks continued to compete defensively throughout the contest.
Game 2: Hunter 2, Stevenson 11
Hunter found some offense late in the second game but could not overcome an early deficit.
Stevenson opened the game with a 10-run first inning to take control. Hunter responded in the fifth inning, scoring twice as Madison Drouet crossed the plate on a wild pitch and Elizabeth Thompson drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
Thompson led the Hawks with a hit and an RBI, while Rosales and Thumhart also recorded hits. Hunter finished with three hits in the game.
Drouet was charged with the loss after starting in the circle, while Thumhart provided four innings of relief and struck out seven.
The Hawks continue thier road trip tomorrow for a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Notre Dame (MD).
