MONTCLAIR, N.J.- The Hunter College men's soccer team continued its early-season nonconference slate Wednesday evening, falling to Montclair State, 7-0, at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field. The Hawks move to 0-2-1 through their first three matches of the season.
Hunter generated its best opportunities through Georgios Tsiakas, who accounted for two of the Hawks' three shots and put both of his attempts on goal. Tsiakas produced Hunter's first scoring chance in the 22nd minute, forcing a save on an attempt toward the bottom right corner.
Fernando Zuvela added Hunter's other shot of the opening half, sending an attempt wide in the 32nd minute. The Hawks entered halftime trailing 2-0.
Tsiakas continued to create opportunities after the break, putting another attempt on frame in the 61st minute. Hunter also earned its lone corner kick of the match in the 76th minute.
In goal, Matthew Fridburg finished with five saves, including three in the opening half.
Hunter finished with three shots, placing two on target, while using 20 players throughout the match.
The Hawks return to the pitch on Sept. 12 as they travel to Maritime in search of their first win. Kick-off is slated for 12 p.m.
