Dotti’s Double-OT Goal Gives Hawks First Regular Season Championship Since 1999

New York, NY – Junior midfielder Oscar Dotti (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) scored his fifth goal of the season in dramatic fashion, beating out the keeper for an empty netter in double overtime to give Hunter College a 1-0 win over CCNY and its first CUNY Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship since 1999, thus clinching the top seed in next week's Championship Tournament.

CCNY placed some quality shots on net and Hunter had many chances as scoring as well, out shooting the Beavers 24-7 with freshman Carlos Cobo (Bronx, NY/World Cultures) racking seven shots with four on goal. However, after 106 minutes of play, it took just shot to give Hunter the victory.

Senior Noah Fessler (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) earns his fourth career shutout after a superb game that saw him stop six of the seven shots he faced. Sophomore keeper Taiwo Alabi (Lagos, Nigeria/Dansol) had 11 saves in net for the Beavers.

The Hawks close out the regular season with a 9-7-1 overall record and are 6-1-1 in the CUNYAC, while CCNY falls to 4-13 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

The top-seeded Hawks will now prepare for the opening round of the CUNYAC Championship Tournament, which the Hawks will face one of three teams currently battling for the eighth seed in the conference. The quarterfinal match-up will take place on Wednesday, October 29 at Icahn Stadium with a start time of 1:00 p.m.
