Montclair, NJ – The undefeated Montclair State Red Hawks extended their all-time NCAA best home winning streak to 44 consecutive victories with a 3-0 shutout of the Hunter College Hawks on Monday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Park in Montclair, NJ.
The fifth ranked Red Hawks improve to 14-0-1 on the season, while the Hunter Hawks fall to 5-10-1 after dropping their fourth straight match.
Junior forward Larry Geraghty (Cranford, NJ / St. Benedict's Prep) is credited with the game-winner after converting on a pass from senior forward Michael Cullen (Clementon, NJ / Highland) just 4:25 into the contest. They would add one more before the end of the half to hold a 2-0 lead at intermission. In the second half, Cullen gave his team a 3-0 lead with a goal at 59:43.
Freshman
Alexandre Ilic (Miami, FL/Miami Killian Senior High) got the start in net for the Hawks, playing 80:20, making one save while giving up all three goals. Fellow freshman keeper
Murtaza Munir (Staten Island, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) played the final 9:40, making one save. Montclair keepers Teddy Ritter (Belford, NJ / Middletown North) and Tyler Stakiwicz (Delran, NJ / Delran) combined for the team's eighth shutout of the season.
Hunter will now look towards when Wednesday when they will close out the regular season with a key CUNY Athletic Conference match at Brooklyn College at 4:00 p.m.
