Women’s Swimming Defeats John Jay 54-41

New York, NY – Three different Hawks earned first place finishes to help their team to a 54-41 victory over John Jay College in a CUNY Athletic Conference women's swimming meet on Tuesday night held at John Jay.

Senior Heather Alvord (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) continued her impressive swimming to start the season, winning the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:26.45 and took first in the 200-yard IM with a 2:26.12 performance. Sophomore Gloria Reyna (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) also had a good meet for the Hawks, taking first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.37 and tapped the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:06.38.

Senior Adrienne Baldassano (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph's by-the-Sea) earned her first win of the season with a 1:15.72 race in the 100-yard backstroke and also finished second in the 200-yard IM

The win improves Hunter to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in CUNYAC meets. The Hawks will return to the pool on Thursday, when they travel to Riverdale, NY for a meet with the Jaspers of Manhattan College.
