Women’s Tennis Defeats CCNY 9-0

New York, NY – The Hunter women's tennis team picked up their second win of the season and extended their CUNYAC win streak to 57 victories with a 9-0 victory over The City College of New York on Thursday night in Jamaica, NY.

The Hawks opened up doubles play with senior Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) and junior Veronica Efimenko (Belarus/#181) earning a tough 9-7 victory over freshman Paulinka Kulczak and sophomore Darya Vasendin. The Hawks then took second and third doubles 8-0.

At second singles, Efimenko fought to a 7-5 win first set before finishing off Vasendin 6-0 in the second set. Sophomore Stefanie Smith (Little Neck, NY, Cardozo) earned her second singles victory of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the third spot, followed by sophomores Ericka Jaramillo (Jamaica, NY/Townsend Harris), Olga Chagin (Dix Hills, NY/Tottenville) and Olga Gervits (Bronx, NY/Bronx Science) who all won their matches 6-0, 6-0.

The Hawks will now prepare for a big conference match that has playoff implications on Tuesday, when they will meet up with Baruch College for a 3:30 p.m. road match at the USTA Tennis Center.
