Tchij, Trezos Earn Major Awards. Four Hawks Named to All-Conference Team

FLUSHING, N.Y.- Following a perfect season capped by back-to-back championships, the Hunter College women's tennis team dominated the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) postseason honors, claiming multiple major awards and placing four Hawks on the All-Conference Team.

Freshman Isabella Tchij was named the 2025 CUNYAC Rookie of the Year as well as First Team All-Conference, highlighting an impressive debut campaign at the top of Hunter's lineup. The Brooklyn native immediately made her mark as the Hawks' No. 1 singles player, posting a 6–2 overall record, including 4–1 in conference play. She also led the No. 1 doubles team to a 6–2 record, helping Hunter secure crucial points throughout its undefeated run. Tchij's maturity, poise, and willingness to embrace the pressure of leading the lineup set her apart among conference newcomers. Her consistent play and strong leadership presence made her an integral part of Hunter's championship roster.

For the second consecutive season, Head Coach Alex Trezos was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year, after guiding the Hawks to another flawless campaign and conference title. Hunter finished the regular season 9–0 overall and 5–0 in CUNYAC play, before storming through the postseason to repeat as champions. Under Trezos' leadership, the Hawks compiled a staggering 50–3 singles record and 23–3 doubles record, sweeping four opponents and dropping just three individual matches all season. His balance of strategic lineup decisions and player development continued to elevate Hunter's program to new heights, fostering a culture of excellence, respect, and unity both on and off the court.

Hunter led all programs with four First Team All-Conference selections in Anna Chapko, Jade Schoenfeld, Sara Novo and Tchij, underscoring the team's unmatched depth and dominance this season.

Senior, Chapko wrapped up her collegiate career undefeated in singles (7–0) and 6–1 in doubles, including a 4–0 singles record in league play to earn her first team selection. The other half of the No. 1 doubles team,  Schoenfeld also earned All-Conference recognition as she finished 7–0 in singles and 6–1 in doubles, primarily at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles spots. In addition to her All-Conference selection, Sara Novo was named the tournament MVP after clinching the decisive victory in Hunter's 6–1 championship win over Baruch. Novo completed the season undefeated in both singles (6–0) and doubles (6–0), excelling primarily in the No. 2 doubles and middle singles slots. Her consistency and composure in high-pressure moments were vital to the team's postseason success.

Samantha Moser was named to the Sportsmanship team, as she was recognized for her dedication, and positive influence on teammates. Moser's behind-the-scenes contributions and selfless attitude epitomized the values of Division III athletics.

The Hawks will return to action in the spring with a spot secured in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
