On Saturday, October 16, the women's tennis team traveled to Union, New Jersey to take on the Cougars of Kean University. In their final match of the regular season, the Hawks dropped two out of three doubles and only came up with two singles wins which resulted in a 6-3 loss, their first of the season. Hunter's record now stands at 12-1, 8-0 CUNYAC heading into post season play.
The team of Jennifer Kraham and Arielle Kamin played at first doubles and came out on top 8-3 while Kean picked up the remaining two games. Heading into singles already down 2-1, the Hawks needed to win at least four out of six to win the match. Kraham picked up a win at first singles and was followed by Stefanie Smith who picked up the only other win by way of a 6-2, 6-3 score. At fifth singles, Nora Millman pushed a third set but fell 10-4.
The Hawks begin their championship run and will attempt to defend their CUNYAC title starting tomorrow, October 19 when they host the quarterfinal round at the USTA National Tennis Center at 3:30.
