Jamaica, NY – On Tuesday night, November 9, the women's swimming team took on the Cardinals of York College in their second meet of the season. On the strength of winning both relays and six individual events, the Hawks claimed victory defeating the Cardinals by a score of 119-61.
Hunter won both the 200 Yard Medley Relay Team, which consisted of Jennifer Dzurita, Stephanie Benenati, Olga Kovalkova and Stefanie Doetzkies, and the 200 Free Relay which included Joana Liete, Axinia Gamez, Helena Mapoy and Tiffany Magno in times of 2:29.09 and 2:29.56 respectively.
In the individual events, the Hawks swept the 400 Yard Free with Magno, Liete and Gamez finishing first, second and third respectively. Dzurita swam to the top in the 200 Yard Free and the 100 Yard Back, placing first in both events. In the 200 Yard IM, Magno and Mapoy finished second and third respectively. After placing a close second in the 50 Yard free, senior Olga Kovalkova came back to win the 100 Yard Fly with teammate Cindy Cheng right behind her in second.
The hawks will return to action on Friday November 12th for a non-conference meet when they take on Manhattanville. The meet will begin at 6:00pm.
