Hawk Swimmers Pick up Third Win

New York, NY - On Thursday night, November 18, the Hawks hosted conference rival John Jay in their fourth meet of the season. Backed by eight first place finishes in the individual events and one in the relays, Hunter swam away with a 66-28 victory over the Bloodhounds to notch their third win of the season.

The team of Helena Mapoy, Josiane Joseph, Gloria Reyna and Axinia Gamez began the meet with a win in the 200 yard medley relay, edging out John Jay by .73 seconds, 2:32.53 to 2:33.30. Briana DiGiore followed it up with a win in the 1000 yard freestlye, dominating her opponents by over a minute, finishing in 12:43.73, just two seconds off her season best.

The CUNYAC Rookie of the week, Jennifer Dzurita, continued to improve and set two season bests, swimming the 200 freestyle in 2:13.83 and clocking a 1:09.31 in the 100 backstroke. Tiffany Magno also won her events, stopping the clock at 2:50.51 in the 200 IM and 1:20.17 in th 100 butterfly while teammate Marian Wu took first in both the 50 and 100 freestyle in times of 29.14 and 1:04.63 respectively.

The Hawks return to action on Monday, November 22 when they travel to Queens, New York to take on the Knights of Queens College. The meet is scheduled for a 6pm start.
