Swim Remains Perfect in Conference Action

New York, NY – On Friday, December 10, the women's swim team played host to the Lightning of Lehman College in their fourth conference meet of the season. On the strength of seven first place finishes and one first place relay, the Hawks swam away with the victory by a score of 54-41. With the win, Hunter moves to 6-2 overall and remains a perfect 4-0 in conference action while the Lightning drop to 3-4, 2-1 CUNYAC.

The quartet of Jennifer Dzurita, Stephanie Benenati, Olga Kovalkova and Stefanie Doetzkies teamed up for the 200 yard medley relay and easily won in a time of 2:17.84, earning seven points in the process. Dzurita came right back and topped the field in the 1000 yard freestyle, besting second place by a margin of over 1:25. Fellow freshman, Brianna DiGiore followed her teammate's performance with a first place showing of her own in the 200 yard freestlye, clocking in at 2:15.75, over eight seconds ahead of second place.

Junior Marian Wu notched two first place finishes in the 200 yard IM and the 100 backstroke, stopping the clock at 2:41.75 and 1:11.98 respectively. DiGiore and Dzurita picked up their second wins of the meet in the 100 freestyle (1:03.31) and 500 free (6:02.49) respectively. Rounding out the day was Doetzkies who placed first in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:28.69, narrowly edging out Sylvia Churchill of Lehman by one tenth of a second.

The Hawks are back in action on Friday, January 7 when they take on conference rival Baruch at 6:00 pm
