New York, NY - On Friday, December 3, the women's swim team played host to the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College in front of a homecoming crowd. The Hawks had a fantastic meet that saw 17 season best times and five first place finishes. The meet came down to the final event, the 200 yard freestyle relay, in which the winner would ultimately capture the meet victory. The quartet of Olga Kovalkova, Gloria Reyna, Tiffany Magno and anchor Jennifer Dzurita touched first to secure the Hawks' fifth win of the season as they move to 5-2, 3-0 CUNYAC.

Brian DiGiore kicked off the meet with the first individual win as she swam the 1000 yard freestyle in 12:40.18, beating second place finisher, Sarah Redding, by just over 7.5 seconds. Her performance was followed up with back-to-back wins by Jennifer Dzurita and Tiffany Magno. Dzurita edged Jaclyn Sciarrotto in the 200 yard freestyle by under two seconds while Magno took the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 28.77, just .04 seconds ahead of teammate Kovalkova.

The Hawks placed second and third consecutively in the next three events and got their fourth first place finish on the arms and legs of DiGiore in the 500 yard freestyle (6:11.90). With the Hawks holding a 47-41 lead, they needed to win the final event, the 200 yard freestyle relay, in order to secure the win. Kovalkova took the early lead, splitting 28.97 before Reyna followed that up with a 28.29 split. Magno and Dzurita closed the relay out with splits of 28.34 and 27.16 respectively, out-swimming St. Joe's 1:52.76 to 2:00.71.

The Hawks are back in action on Friday, December 4-5 when they take part in the ECAC team championships in East Meadow, New York.
