Hunter Swim Past Dolphins in Final Conference Meet

Staten Island, NY - On Wednesday, January 19th, the women's swimming took on the College of Staten Island in their last conference meet of the regular season. With ten first place finishes, the Hawks dominated the Dolphins, collecting a total of 152 points compared to CSI's 70. With the win, the Hawks advance their record to 8-3, 5-1 CUNYAC, while CSI slips to 5-5, 4-1 CUNYAC.

Freshman Jennifer Dzurita, sophomore Briana DiGore, junior Marian Wu, and senior Kim Happich all had two first place finishes in their respected events. Dzurita picked up victories in the 200 and 100 Freestyle while DiGore won the 1000 and 500 Freestyles. Teammate Wu topped the field in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM while Happich grabbed top honors in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke.

The Hawks performed well in the relays as well. The team of junior Gloria Reyna, Wu, Happich, and Dzurita won the 200MR with a time of 2:13.19. In the 200 freestyle relay, Olga Kovalkova, Katherine Salinas, DiGore and Doetzkies teamed up to win with a time of 2:08.71.

The Hawks return to action on Friday, January 21 when they travel to Danbury, Connecticut for their last meet of the regular season to take on the Colonials of Western Connecticut in a non-conference match. The meet is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
