Men's Soccer Defeated By Lehman, 2-0
In CUNYAC Semifinal Match

BROOKLYN, NY – The fifth-seeded Hunter College men's soccer team was eliminated from the CUNYAC / Applebee's Championship by Lehman College—the number one seed as an early 2-0 deficit proved too great for the Hawks to overcome in today's semifinal match.

In a game which was rescheduled and moved to the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn following last Saturday's unexpected snow storm, the Hawks did not get the result they had hoped for as Lehman took an early lead they would not relinquish.

The Lightening got on board early in the first half, doing so in the 13th minute after Oumar Nlang converted a penalty kick following a handball committed in the box, providing Lehman with the 1-0 lead.

The Lightening and Nlang struck once more in the first half, scoring in the 32nd minute as Nlang found the back of the Hawks' net to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Hawks had their opportunities but could not manage to find the back of the net this afternoon. A golden opportunity went awry early in the second half when Danny Vera's penalty kick attempt was saved by Lightening goal keeper Marcos Coto-Batres in just the sixth minute.

Lehman outshot Hunter 16-10 however the Hawks turned up the offensive pressure in the second, taking nine shots.

Despite surrendering a pair of goals, Zade Haobsh recorded eight saves with five of those stops made in the second half.

Offensively, Vera led the Hawks with three shots fired in today's match, two of those were on target. Tutuboy Harris and Darwin Gramajo each managed a pair of shots in today's loss.

The Hawks end the season 5-9-4 overall and 3-2-3 in the CUNYAC. Lehman advances to the CUNYAC / Applebee's Championship finals and will take on the number three seed Baruch.
