RESULTS
BRONX, NY - The Hunter college women's swim team extended its win streak to five meets as the Hawks defeated Lehman College, 110-65 at the Apex Aquatic Center on Friday evening.
The Hawks improve to 8-2 on the year and 4-0 in the CUNYAC.
Hunter got a stellar performance from some of its freshman swimmers as
Charlotte Collazo earned a pair of wins, taking first place in both the 200 yard freestyle (2:19.04) and the 100 yard freestyle (1:01.16) events.
The Hawks "B" relay opened the event with a "B" relay win in the 200-yard medley relay in which
Helena Mapoy,
Josiane Joseph, Ann Pasieka and
Melissa Cruz took first in a time of 2:38.60.
Brianna DiGiore claimed first in the 1000 yard freestyle besting second place by over two minutes as she earned the win in a time of 12:23.94.
Axinia Gamez would finish third in the race in a time of 15:34.94.
Lehman won the 50 yard freestyle event but the Hawks swept 2nd through 4th place as reigning Rookie of the Week swimmer
Chryzl Goco took second in 28.64 followed by Mapoy (31.64) and Pasieka (31.64).
Freshman
Ivanna Tellez won the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:42.97 ahead of another pair of Hawks as
Gloria Reyna (2:59.65) and
Wynette Almeida (2:59.65) were second and third.
Finally, the Hawks swept the top three slots in the 100 yard butterfly as Reyna (1:24.24),
Sarah McGovern (1:25.04) and Cruz (1:34.15) took first through third respectively and
Sara Pazmino won the 100-yard breastroke in 1:15.81 before the Hawks exhibitioned the final events.
Hunter returns to action following the holidays when they host Baruch on Friday, January 6, 2012.
