NEW YORK, NY - The Baruch women's swimming team snapped Hunter College's four-meet win streak and handed the squad its first CUNYAC loss as the Bearcats won 11 races to claim a 60-35 victory in the North Pool on Friday evening.
The loss drops Hunter to 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the CUNYAC while Baruch improves to 6-3 and 4-0 in the CUNYAC.
Hunter took second place in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 2:15.71 as
Tiffany Magno,
Ivanna Tellez,
Courtney McEvoy Lee and
Gloria Reyna all swam legs.
The Hawks settled for a 2-3 finish in the 1000 yard freestyle with
Briana DiGiore and
Juliette Collazo garnering those finishes in respective times of 13:02.59 and 13:26.55.
Similarly, in the 200 yard freestlye
Jennifer Dzurita (2:08.53) and Tellez (2:19.49) earned second and third place.
Baruch won the fourth straight event in the 50 yard freestyle while
Charlotte Collazo (27.96) and Magno (29.17) claimed second and third place respectively.
In the 200 individual medley,
Chryzl Goco (2:33.99) took second while
Marian Wu captured third place (2:38.35).
McEvoy Lee (1:12.41) was second in the 100 yard butterfly while Collazo (1:19.16) settled in third.
Duzrita (59.11) earned her second 2nd place finish on the night in the 100 yard freestyle while
Charlotte Collazo (1:01.11) took third place.
In the 100 yard backstroke, Julia Sung of Baruch took first place while Wu (1:11.51) and Goco (1:11.86) were second and third.
Tellez and DiGiore combined for 1-2 finishes in the 500 yard freestyle, taking those spots in respective times of 6:20.58 and 6:24.69.
Charlotte Collazo swam into second place in the 100 yard breastroke to pace the Hawks with a 1:21.85 timestamp.
Finally, the Hawks were relegated to second and third place in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Baruch swam away with first and claimed victory in this evening's meet. Wu, Goco, Dzurita and Magno were all on the "A" squad which finished second in a time of 1:52.13.
Christina Chu, McEvoy Lee, Collazo and
Gloria Reyna were on the Hunter "B" relay which finished third in a time of 1:58.77.
The Hawks will look to get back on track on January 13th when they take on Mt. Saint Vincent and St. Joseph's College-Long Island.
