Men's Soccer Opens 2012 Campaign

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 NEWTON, MA- The Hunter College men's soccer team travelled to Newton, MA this past weekend to compete in the Lasell College Tournament.  On the first day, the Hawks took on the host college, falling 0-1.  The following day, they took on Husson College in their second and final game but ultimately fell 0-4.

The first game of the tournament, neither team could capitalize on their scoring chances. After over 100 minutes of action the score remained knotted at 0-0. Senior keeper standout Zade Haobsh stopped seven shots in the opening half, giving him 13 saves total for the day.

Unfortunetly for the Hawks, the Laser's Evan Gaccione (Westerly, R.I.) found Mike Skelton (Conway, N.H.) with a cross from alone the touch-line that enabled Skelton to score, giving the Hawks their first loss of the season. Lasell outshot Hunter 28-8.

The next day, the Hawks were still unable to find their groove on the field against the Eagles of Husson College.  Haobsh recorded 10 saves for the game against Husson's 14 shots, where Hunter was only able to shoot 4.   Newcomer freshman Jack Andrade had two shots against the Eagles, giving him the Hawks highest attempt.

The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, September 5th, where they face Montclair State at Randall's Island. The game is set for a 5pm start.
