Flushing, N.Y. - The women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season on Thursday, September 26th against the Beavers of CCNY.  The Hawks swept all three doubles and second through sixth singles to get the win.  The Hawks now improve to 1-4, 1-2 CUNYAC while the Beavers fall to 1-3, 0-3 CUNYAC.

The Hawk team of Nastassia Chittumuri and Janani Bavanandan won their second doubles match with relative ease with a score of 8-1.  Tetyana Gavrylenko and Abigail Rojas teamed up for third doubles and won with an idetical score of 8-1.  First doubles had a tougher match, with Sara Beck and Angelina Usherenko edging out their counterparts by a 8-6 margin.

Bavanandan, Chittumui, and Gavrylenko won their second, fifth and sixth singles matches all with scores of 6-0, 6-0, respectively.  Beck defeated her opponent at fourth singles 6-3, 6-2 while Rojas capped it off at third singles winning 6-2, 6-0.

"Our players played a solid match, and played aggressively in doubles and in singles," says Head Coach Erienne Gale.

The Hawks are back on the court this weekend, when they travel to William Smith College in Geneva, NY to compete in ITA's.
