BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter Hawks wrapped up their non-conference schedule Wednesday night against NYU. The Violets defeated the Hawks 2-0, dropping the Hawks to 0-7 on the season.
The Hawks battled in the first half against the undefeated Violets stifling their offense attack and holding their defensive shape. The Hawks would concede the first goal in the 44' on a free kick by Mickey Ingerman.
"We are continuing to progress," said head coach
John Sanchez. "We are getting better as a team in each game and I like where we are headed into CUNYAC play."
In the 2
nd half the Hawks played solid defense against consistent offensive pressure from the Violets, who took seven corner kicks in the 2
nd half. On a corner in the 84', Zane Van De Put scored to give NYU a 2-0 lead. The Hawks continued their brilliant defense as
Michael Zebzda headed away a sure goal in the 87' to keep the score 2-0.
The Hawks will start CUNYAC play Wednesday September 24 when they will play John Jay College at 12pm.
