NEW YORK, NY - The Hunter women's swimming team celebrated senior night with another big win, as the Hawks defeated the College of St. Elizabeth 51-30. The Hawks improve their record to 11-1 on the season.
During a mini break, the Hawks honored outgoing seniors
Chryzl Goco and
Charlotte Collazo; 4 year student-athletes
Christina Chu and
Courtney McEvoy Lee and graduating seniors
Vanessa Xue and
Niky Wu.
"We are very proud of our graduating class this year, as Coach Netti and I agree that this is the best graduating class the team has ever seen," said co-head coach
Scott Bintner. "They set an example for our underclassmen to follow, and have taught them the backbone that hard work and determination bring. They will be sorely missed, but the core of who they are still lives within the team."
The meet started out putting the Hawks ahead in the 200 Medley Relay with an unchallenged win.
Jessiaca Lou cruised ahead to win the 1000 free, and in the 200 free
Amanda Iken and
Christina Valente placed 2-3.
The 50 free was a sweep with
Alexandra Rubiano winning in a season best time, and
Charlotte Collazo taking second.
Chryzl Goco and
Emily DiPaola lowered their times in the 400IM for another sweep, while
Courtney McEvoy Lee took second in the 100 Butterfly.
It was another sweep in the 100 freestyle with
Lindsey Pero on top and
Vanessa Xue placing second.
The 200 Backstroke was won bu
Niky Wu in her lifetime best, with
Christina Valente coming in third.
Amanda Iken and
Alexia Donis took 2-3 in the 500 free, and
Vanessa Xue went a season best in the 100 Breaststroke.
The 400 Free Realy of
Lindsey Pero,
Jessica Lou,
Alexandra Rubiano and
Charlotte Collazo broke their own team record from earlier in the season.
This was the Hawks final home meet of the season. They will close out their meet schedule when they will compete against Division I Manhattan College on Friday January 23 at 6:30pm.
