RIVERDALE, NY – The Hunter women's swimming team closed out their regular season on Friday night by taking on Division I opponent Manhattan College. The Hawks dropped the meet to the Jaspers by a score of 105-91.
The loss drops the Hawks record to a still impressive 10-2 mark.
The meet began with the Hawks placing second in the 200-medley relay, missing first by just less than two seconds.
The Jaspers dominated in the freestyle events taking the top-three spots in the 1000 free, 200 free and 50 free.
Kelly Xue would place third in the 200 IM and in the next event;
Alexandra Rubiano would place second missing first by just two seconds.
Charlotte Collazo,
Shannon Lyver and
Christina Valente took the top-three spots in the 100 freestyle. The Hawks also took the top-three spots in the 100 backstroke, with
Chryzl Goco, Xue and
Niky Wu finishing in 1-2-3.
The Jaspers came back in the 500 freestyle taking the top-three spots.
The Hawks would close out the meet taking the top-three spots in the 100 backstroke with
Carla Canning, Goco and
Alexia Donis placing. In addition, the team took first in the 200 freestyle relay with
Niky Wu,
Jessica Lou,
Lindsey Pero and
Alexandra Rubiano swimming the Hawks to the lead.
The Hawks will return to the pool next at the CUNYAC Championships that are scheduled to begin on Friday February 6 at 2pm.
