Patchogue, NY - The women's swimming and diving team remained a perfect 2-0 as they earned their second victory of the season in a 112-75 victory over St. Joseph's College (Long Island) on Friday evening. The Purple and Gold took six individual event wins on the evening.
Hunter's 200 yard Medley Relay teams finished first and second to earn 20 team points. The quartet of Madeleine Hew,
Carla Canning,
Alexandra Rubiano and
Lindsey Pero set a season (and Conference best) time of 2:00.31 while
Kelly Xue, Emily Dipaola,
Shannon Lyver and
Jessica Lou placed second in 2:07.63.
Each of the Hawk's three swimmers in 1,000 freestyle swam personal bests with
Irene Collins swimming a conference best time of 12:17.16.
Amanda Iken finished second with her personal best of 12:40.00. In the 50 freestyle, the Purple and Gold fared exceptionally well, sweeping the top-three spots. Rubiano took top honors with a time of 27.15 while Pero was just .52 behind her. Hew claimed third place with a mark of 28.42.
Carla Canning won the 200 IM and the 200 breaststroke while Rubiano and Pero finished first and second in the 200 Butterfly respectively. Hew and Xue also swam to first and second place finishes in the 200 Backstroke.
"We had a lot of great swims this evening," stated co-head coach
Andrew Netti. "We will continue to work hard in preparation for showdowns with conference rivals in the coming weeks."
