Swimming Continues Winning Ways; Downs John Jay, 61-33

The swimming and diving team continued to cruise through their opponents in the early stages of their schedule, chalking up their third straight win after defeating John Jay College in a CUNYAC matchup, 61-33 on Tuesday night. Backed by wins in all but two events, the Purple and Gold swam to a convincing win.

Highlighting the evening, both the 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle relays took top honors. Kelly Xue, Carla Canning, Madeleine and Emily Dipaola combined for a time of 2:06.78 while Christina Fedorov, Lindsey Pero, Alexandra Rubiano and Hew swam to a 1:51.02.

Individually, Irene Collins took first in both the 200 yard freestyle (2:17.64) and 500 yard freestyle (6:04.06) while Rubiano accomplished the same feat in the 200 yard IM (2:23.37) and 100 yard butterfly (1:04.24).

Amanda Iken took top honors in the 1000 freestyle in 12:47.82 while the final event winner included Xue in the 100 yard backstroke (1:10.95).

The Hawks take back to the water on Monday, November 23 when they host Queens College at 6pm.
