Bronx, NY - The Hunter College swimming team won their sixth straight meet to remain undefeated so far during the 2015-16 season. They out-swam the Lightning of Lehman College by a score of 134-94 despite not having a single diver in the meet. The Hawks won seven individual events along with two relays en route to their victory.

Carla Canning,
Alexandra Rubiano and
Lindsey Pero got the Hawks off to a good start after winning the opening 200 yard medley relay by less than one second. The quartet touched the final wall in 2:02.72 while the Lightning four were close behind in 2:03.65.
Madeline Hew and
Irene Collins were both double event winners on the evening. Hew took top honors in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:31.88, narrowly edging Canning by .4, and then earned the win in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:07.5. Meanwhile, Collins had a succesful day in the distance events. She topped the fields in both the 500 yard and 1000 yard freestyle in times of 6:12.67 and 12:36.91 respectively.
Xue recorded the fastest time in the 200 yard freestyle (2:15.63) while Rubiano was the top finisher in the 100 yard butterfly (1:02.74). Rounding out the event winners was Emily DiPaolo who edged out Lehman's Angela Mejia by .12 for first place with a time of 1:16.47.
Capping the meet, Rubiano,
Shannon Lyver, Hew and
Christina Fedorov out-paced the competition in the 200 yard freestyle relay, beating the field by nearly 22 seconds with a time of 1:51.34.
The Purple and Gold return to action on Friday, December 11 when they host the College of Staten Island at 6:30pm.
