Riverdale, NY - Hunter College athletics men's soccer fell to College of Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday evening with a score of 4-1.
With the loss the Hawks now have a 2-4 record and have yet to begin conference play.
Hunter's defense kept the game close at first, as goalkeeper
Garrett Babbitt quickly recorded three saves in the first 16 minutes of play. Despite several shot attempts by the Hawks, the score was tied, 0-0 at halftime.
The Dolphins came out in the second half to immediately score, finding a goal just two minutes into play. Hunter continued to shoot, recording three shots on goal in the next three minutes from Aldas Wilson,
Aiden Tucker and
Brandon Fiscina.
At the 67:29 minute mark Hunter would give up another goal, giving Mount Saint Vincent a 2-0 lead. The Hawks would finally convert just two minutes later when
Pratik Gurung scored off a rebounded shot from
Kamal Chhetri.
With the Hawks trailing 2-1, the Dolphins did not let up, scoring twice more with ten minutes left in the game. Hunter was able to record one more shot to close out the game but could not capitalize, falling to Mount Saint Vincent, 4-1.
The Hawks notched 13 goals in the loss, while the Dolphins had 19. Babbitt had eight saves for the Hawks in the 90 minutes.
Hunter returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they host Cairn University at 12 p.m.
