BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College men's soccer fell in a hard-fought game to Montclair State on Wednesday with a final score of 3-2.
Montclair State scored just two minutes into the game, finding a header off a blocked corner kick to take the 1-0 lead. The Red Hawks were not finished there, scoring another goal 23 minutes later for a 2-0 lead.
Hunter would attempt a couple of shots but would not respond until the 33:08 minute mark when Aiden Tucket netted a goal off an assist from
Itamar Pereira.
Each team recorded several more shots in the first half but the Purple and Gold went into halftime trailing, 2-1.
The second half started with a high shot from Tucker as the Hawks fought to tie the game. It would not happen until the 68 minute mark as
Jesus Patino Muniz found the back of the goal to even the score, 2-2 with 30 minutes to play.
Montclair State did not wait long before striking again, scoring 20 minutes later to take the 3-2 lead and eventually win the game.
The Hawks tallied six shots in the game, while goalkeeper Paul Tenfoung earned a season-high 11 saves in the loss.
Hunter returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they host NYU at 12 p.m.
