BOX SCORE 2 New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball captured its fourth-straight City University of New York Athletic Conference championship on Friday night, sweeping Baruch College in the semifinals before taking down John Jay College in the finals.
The Hawks improved to 27-4 this season and will attempt to make it past the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
Hunter faced the #3 seeded Bloodhounds, winning the match in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-17 and 25-16 to take the title.
Taylor Haiduk was named Most Valuable Performer, while Emily Wasson and Marlena Budna earned spots on the All-Tournament Team.
The Purple and Gold hit .352 in the match, holding John Jay to a .026 hitting percentage.
Haiduk led the team with 10 kills, while Budna and
Julia Connolly notched nine kills each. Budna had no errors for a .643 hitting percentage, also leading the Hawks in blocks with five. Miranda Hogan recorded 32 assists in the victory, while Haley Trunkett led the defense with 12 digs.
The Hawks will find out who they will face in the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Monday during the selection show, scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
