New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's swimming capture its fourth-straight regular season CUNYAC championship on Friday night at the North Pool, defeating Baruch College with a tight score of 49-46.
The Hawks have just one more conference meet before competing at the CUNYACÂ Championships on Feb. 2.
The night started out on a good note for the Purple and Gold with a win in the 200 yard medley relay to score seven points. The Hawks then took the next two races, getting first place finishes from
Sera Knobler (1000 yard freestyle) and
Alexandra Rubiano (200 yard freestyle).
Baruch got wins in the 500 free and 200 IM to keep the score close, but Rubiano struck again by winning the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.27 to score five more points.Â
Gabrielle Oczos and
Julia Mamone went one and two in the 100 back, before Knobler finished the Bearcats off with another win in the 500 free. Baruch took the 100 breast and the freestyle relay to make it a nail biter, but the Hawks came up victorious, winning by three points.
The squad returns to the pool on January 23 when they travel to Brooklyn College.
