New York, NY – The Hunter swimming and diving team picked up their fifth win this evening after downing the Bloodhounds of John Jay by a score of 64-30. The win improves the Hawks to 5-1 overall, 3-0 CUNYAC while John Jay moves to 3-3, 1-0 CUNYAC.
To the delight of the Homecoming crowd, the Hawks won every event on the evening including the two relays while setting seven personal bests in the process.
Hunter won both relays; taking the 200y medley relay in a time of 2:06.77 to edge the Bearcats by just under two second. Their time of 1:48.76 in the 200y free relay was nearly 18 seconds better than their "B" squad and almost 25 seconds faster than John Jay's "A" team.
Individually, Hanaa Lacchab won two events for the Purple and Gold beginning with a dominant victory in the 200y free after posting a time of 2:14.91 for a personal best. She also took top honors in the 100y fly with a mark of 1:05.84, edging out teammate
Sarah Betts' time of 1:08.73 which is a personal best.
Katherine Lee set a personal best in the 50y free with a time of 27.49 while
Virginia Anne Dundon accomplished the same with a mark of 28.35. In the 500y free,
Irene Collins lowered her previous personal best time and came just shy of breaking the six-minute mark after touching the wall in 6:00.60.
The swimming and diving team will take a break for the holidays but will resume action against Brooklyn College in a home meet on Friday, January 4 in the North Pool at 6pm.
