New York, N.Y. - Hunter College women's swimming took home its fifth-straight CUNYAC regular season championship on Friday night, edging out Baruch College in a tight meet with a score of 102.5 to 101.5.
The Hawks finish up conference play with an 8-0 record, while handing the Bearcats their only conference loss of the season.
Irene Collins and
Julia Mamone went one and two to start the night in the 800 meter freestyle with Collins earning a time of 10:47.12.
Sera Knobler followed that up with a first-place performance in the 200m freestyle, before Ariel and
Alice Tsai took second and third place, respectively, in the 50m freestyle. Hanaa Lacchab won the 100m butterfly to put the Purple and Gold in a good position, while
Gabrielle Oczos got Hunter's fourth first-place finish of the meet in the 100m backstroke.
In the 400m freestyle, Knobler and Collins continued their strong performances by taking first and second-place, as Knobler posted a time of 4:57.62.
Baruch closed out the last two events with first-place finishes but fell just short of the Hawks, who took the meet by exactly one point.
Hunter and Baruch will face off again on February 1-February 3 in the CUNYAC Championships, held at Lehman College.
