Staten Island, NY – The swimming and diving team began dual meet action earlier this afternoon against the Dolphins of Staten Island and secured their first win of the season after a 127-85 victory.
Opening the meet was a Purple and Gold one-two punch in the 200 yard medley relay. Hunter's "A" team took first place with a time of 2:01.21 thanks to the efforts of
Sarah Decker,
Virginia Anne Dundon,
Gabrielle Oczos and
Molly Baran. The "B" relay finished second in 2:12.51.
Sarah Betts landed the first of six Hunter individual wins after out-swimming her nearest competitor in the 200 yard IM by over 10 seconds with a time of 2:25.08. Oczos touched the wall first in the 100 yard butterfly with an effort of 1:05.30 while
Katherine Lee and
Cloe Mueller finished first and second respectively in the 100 yard free. Lee stopped the clock at 1:00.54 with Mueller close behind in 1:01.34.
The final two first place finishes came from
Alice Tsai and Dundon. Tsai clocked in at 1:06.84 in the 100 yard backstroke while Dundon registered a time of 1:12.28 in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Capping the meet was the 200 yard freestyle relay team comprised of Oczos, Tsai, Lee and Mueller. The quartet dominated the Dolphins and turned in a time of 1:49.90; nearly eight seconds faster than the host relay team.
Hunter returns to action on Wednesday, November 13 when they take on Lehman College at 6pm.
