Union, NJ/New York, NY – The women's swimming and diving team had double duty on Friday, competing against Kean in the morning and then double-backing and hosting York College in the North Building Pool later on in the evening. The busy day resulted in a 147-111 non-conference loss to Kean but ended on a high note with a 64-20 victory over York. Overall, the Hawks move to 7-2 overall and stay perfect in CUNYAC action with a 4-0 mark.

The Hawks faced a tough challenge against Kean, managing to secure just one relay and one individual win while picking up 11 runner-up finishes.
The quartet of
Sarah Decker,
Virginia Anne Dundon,
Gabrielle Oczos and
Cloe Mueller combined to snag a first place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.10; over two seconds faster than Kean's relay. Capping the meet was the 200 yard freestyle relay in which
Alice Tsai,
Julia Mamone,
Sarah Betts and Mueller came together for a time of 1:50.48, narrowly finishing behind Kean's relay by just .10.
Dundon was the top finisher on the day in the 50 yard breaststroke, besting her nearest competitor by more than two seconds with a time of 32.69. Decker was narrowly edged out in the 50 yard backstroke, finishing just .41 out of first place in 31.01 while teammate Mueller finished in a similar situation, grabbing second place in 27.98 in the 50 yard freestyle which was .28 off the winning time. The 100 yard IM came down to the wire with Kean's Lauren Beyer and Decker racing for the finish. Beyer touched the wall just .36 quicker than Decker who registered a time of 1:07.85.
York Recap
It was a different story against York later in the evening. The Hawks took all but one event to close the day and dominated the Cardinals in both the sprints and distance events.
The 200 yard medley relay team with Tsai, Mueller, Betts and
Valentina Burgos put together a time of 2:09.95 which was almost 10 seconds faster than York's quartet. Capping the meet in the final relay event, Decker,
Angelika Uszynska, Tsai and Mueller joined together for a time of 1:52.98 to edge out Hunter's other relay team with
Chloe Gregoire, Amina Duplijak,
Molly Baran and
Sera Knobler by .37.
Individually, Knobler was the top finisher in the 200 yard freestyle after out-swimming her nearest competitor by over seven seconds with a time of 2:10.66 while
Michelle Bzikot posted a time of 2:46.30 in the 200 yard IM for first place.
Other top finishers for the Purple and Gold included Betts' 1:08.43 in the 100 yard butterfly, Burgos' 1:13.06 in the 100 yard freestyle, Decker's 1:04.50 in the 100 yard backstroke, Oczos' 6:05.51 in the 500 yard freestyle, and Dundon's 1:11.31 performance in the 100 yard breaststroke.
The squad returns to action on Friday, January 17 when they host Baruch in their final dual meet of the year. The Hawks will honor their seniors prior to the meet which is set to begin at 6pm.
