New York, NY - The women's swimming and diving team opened the new year the same way they concluded 2019; with a victory. The Hawks move to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in CUNYAC action after defeating Brooklyn College on Friday, January 3 by a score of 67-25.
The Purple and Gold dominated in the pool, winning every event with the exception of the 100 yard backstroke. Double event winners included
Sera Knobler who took the 1000 yard free in 12:15.09 and the 400 yard IM in 5:17.38 while teammate Sara Decker clocked in at 2:14.5 for the 200 yard free and 2:22.92 in the 200 yard backstroke.
Cloe Mueller also won two events, taking the 100 yard free in 59.91 and the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:21.31.
The Hawks had six other event winners which are listed below:
Michelle Bzikot - 200 yard breaststroke - 3:08.11
Samantha Helmy - 200 yard butterfly - 2:41.91
Julia Mamone - 50 yard free - 29.52
Virginia Anne Dundon - 200 yard IM - 2:29.81
Gabrielle Oczos - 100 yard butterfly - 1:08.33
Molly Baran - 500 yard free - 6:47.02
Lastly, both the relay teams came out with victories. In the 200 yard medley relay, Oczos, Amina Duplijak, Helmy and
Chloe Gregoire combined for a time of 2:09.40 while the 200 yard freestyle relay comprised of Oczos, Gregoire,
Alexa Magsuci and Dundon put together a time of 1:57.92.
Hunter is back in action on Tuesday, January 7 when they travel to Kings Point, NY to take on USMMA. First swim is set for 6pm.
