New York- The Hunter College women's volleyball team swept its conference tri-match Saturday afternoon, winning each in three sets.
The Hawks (5-8, 2-0 CUNYAC) faced off against host, John Jay (5-9, 1-1 CUNYAC) first. The opening set saw a back-and-forth battle with Hawks winning 29-27, as a pair of kills from
Pearl Mensah and
Mariapaz Lojano finished off the close set. The Hawks cruised through the next two sets (25-20, 25-19) to secure their first victory of the day.
Hunter then matched up against City College of New York (1-8, 0-1 CUNYAC). The Purple and Gold soared through the match in straight sets once again. Senior,
Alexa Sayson led the team, logging a season-high five service aces to accompany her 10 kills and six digs.
Kiara Abreu also recorded personal record with 18 assists in the match.
The Hawks return to the floor Tuesday (Oct. 12) for their home opener against Ramapo College. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. at the Hunter Sportsplex.
