New York, NY-Â The Hunter Women's Swimming team defeated CUNYAC opponent John Jay 46-31 in their first home meet of the year. Hunter took the top spot in 5 of the 9 events, and split the two exhibition races.
Che'Rel Haywood took home the first gold for the Hawks with a 2:16.39 finish in the 200 freestyle.Â
Kinsella Reis grabbed a spot on the podium with a third place finish at 2:25.52. In the 5th race of the day Freshman
Mia Chang took home the top finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:27.17, grabbing second place was teammate and fellow freshman
Kateryna Titarenko who finished 2:49. 28.
Hunter went 1 and 2 in event #7 the 100 free,
Kiana Guarino grabbed the top spot at 59:20 just out touching teammate
Mia Chang 59:32. The Hawks also swept the distance event with senior
Sarah Decker taking the top spot in the 500 free with a 6:18.98, winning by nearly 20 seconds over teammate
Gwendolyn Posner who took home silver with a 6:37.26. In the second relay of the meet the Hawks won the 200 free with
Lian Winter,
Kiana Guarino,
Gwendolyn Posner, and
Germayne Chau taking home the top spot with a 1:52.38, topping the B relay from Hunter made up of
Mia Chang,
Sarah Decker,
Nayesha Krishna, and Vanessa Betancur who came in at 1:59.38.
 In the 200 Medley Relay Hunter went 2 and 3 with
Nayesha Krishna, Che;Rel Haywood,
Lian Winter, and
Vanesa Betancur taking silver with a 2:11.22, and
Gwendolyn Posner,
Kinsella Reis,
Kateryna Titarenko, and Keyu Feng going 2:16.15.  In the exhibition 200 Butterfly
Che'Rel Haywood,
Lian Winter and
Nayesha Krishna went 1, 2 and 3 at 2:48.79, 2:59.36 and 3:05.38 respectfully.Â
The Hawks are back in the pool on Saturday 12/10 when they travel to Sarah Lawrence for a tri-meet with the hosts, and United States Merchanct Marine academy. First event is at 1pm.
