New York, NY- In their return to the pool from finals break the Hunter College Hawks picked up 2023 right where they left off in 2022. The Hawks took home a CUNYAC conference win with a 59-31 win over Brooklyn College at the Hunter College North Pool. The hawks took the top spot in the first 7 events and went 1-2 in 5 of those 7 events.
In the 200 Medley Relay Hunter took the top 2 spots. The relay of
Kiana Guarino, Vanessa Betancur,
Lian Winter and
Germayne Chau finished in 2:04.46, while the other Hunter Relay went 2:11.02, made up of
Gwendolyn Posner,
Kinsella Reis,
Nayesha Krishna and
Cara Chang.
Mia Chang took home the top spot in the 1000 with a time of 11:58.56 with
Heyu Feng grabbing the second spot for Hunter aswell. In the third event Sophomore
Germayne Chau took home her second win of the event with a 2:16.34 win in the 200 freestyle.
Event #4 was the 50 freestlye and Hunter went 1 and 2 with
Cara Chang out touching teammate
Kinsella Reis with a 26:63 and 27:90 respectively.
Kiana Guarino took the top spot in the 200 IM witha 2:21.75 and
Lian Winter grabbed the silver to secure the top two positions for Hunter. In the 100 Butterfly Sophomore Chau grabbed her 3 and final win of the day, winning all three of her races with a time of 1:03.95 In the 100 yard Backstroek, Senior and SAAC president
Sarah Decker took home the top spot with a 1:09.62.
The Hawks wrapped up the evening with a few exhibition swims. Next up for Hunter is CUNYAC rival Baruch College, first race is scheduled for 6pm at the North Pool on Friday January 13th.
