Staten Island, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's swim team opened up its season on Friday afternoon as they traveled to College of Staten Island where they were edged out, 117-151.
The opening meet was highlighted by a first place performance by
Germayne Chau, who finished the women's 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.11.
Parvinabonu Makhmadalieva took the second position in 1:09.32.
Kiara Guarino secured two silver medals of her own in the women's 200-yard backstroke (2:15.90) and the women's 200-yard IM (2:25.76).
Nancy Leal placed third in both the women's 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:22.39, and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:11.29.
Kinsella Reis also took home a third place finish with a time of 3:12.37 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Hawks also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:50.89, the team was comprised of Chau, Leal,
Gwendolyn Posner, and
Cara Chang.
Hunter continues its season with its home opener against Purchase College at the North Pool on Nov. 1 at 6:00 p.m.
