Bronx, N.Y.- The Hunter College women's swimming team opened up conference competition on the road against Lehman, winning decisively with a final score of 110-42 at the Apex Aquatic Center.
Hunter's dominance began with a strong start in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Germayne Chau,
Lian Winter,
Hailey Quiller, and
Cara Chang secured first place with a time of 2:06.20. Chau continued her stellar performance in individual events, capturing victories in the 200-yard IM (2:24.68) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.59).
Parvina Makhmadalieva showcased her diverse strength among short and long distance races, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 13:38.89 and later placing first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.62. Chang added to Hunter's impressive tally, as she took first in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:16.91.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Quiller and Winter took the top two spots for Hunter, finishing nearly neck-and-neck with times of 1:10.65 and 1:10.67, respectively.
Gwendolyn Posner contributed significantly, earning silver in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.31) and gold the 500-yard freestyle at 6:47.88.
Winter also delivered in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing first in 1:26.24. The Hawks capped off the meet with another relay win, as Quiller, Posner, Chang, and Makhmadalieva finished the 200-yard free relay with a combined time of 1:54.10.
The Hawks return to the pool on Nov. 20 in their first home meet of the season, as they host John Jay at 6:00 p.m. in the Northpool.
