New York, N.Y.- The Hunter College swim team kicked off the team's first home meet of the season, securing a decisive victory over John Jay with a commanding score of 71-24.
The Hawks dominated the relay field, starting with the 200-yard medley, as the team of
Germayne Chau,
Lian Winter,
Hailey Quiller, and
Mia Chang clocked in at 2:02.58. The Hawks also won the the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:53.93 with standout swims by
Cara Chang,
Kateryna Titarenko,
Kiana Guarino, and M. Chang.
Individual performances further underscored Hunter's dominance. C. Chang shone brightly, claiming first place in both the 200-yard free with a time of 2:13.08 and the 100-yard freestyle with a swift 1:00.72. Chau continued to lead the team as she delivered across multiple events, taking first in the 100-yard Butterfly at 1:05.34 and finishing strong in the 100-yard Breaststroke at 1:15.94. Guarino also contributed, winning the 200-yard IM in 2:28.07.
M. Chang and Gwendolyn Posner dominated the 500-yard freestyle, finishing first and second with times of 6:44.77 and 6:49.58, respectively. In the backstroke events, Lian Winter led the charge, winning the 100-yard race in 1:10.45.
With the win, the Hawks remain undefeated in conference competition. They continue their season at Hunter's annual Homecoming on Dec. 6 as they host Purchase at 6:00 p.m. in the North Pool.
