Hawks Fall to Saint Elizabeth in Tough Road Match

BOX SCORE Morristown, N.J.- The Hunter College men's soccer team fell to St. Elizabeth in a challenging outing on Saturday afternoon. Despite a spirited effort, the Hawks were unable to find the back of the net, ultimately falling 6-0 to the home side.

From the outset, Hunter struggled to contain Saint Elizabeth's offensive pressure, which culminated in a rapid four-goal first half. Notably, goalkeeper Max Tsigalnitsky stood out for Hunter, recording an impressive nine saves throughout the match, showcasing his skill and determination against a barrage of shots. His ability to keep the score from escalating further in the first half was commendable, as he made several crucial stops, including multiple shots from Saint Elizabeth's Sebastian Londono, who found the net twice.

Hunter's offense showed glimpses of promise, with standout performances from players like Leonardo Kaplan, who led the team with three shots, and Bradley Espejo, who contributed four shots off the bench. Espejo's energy injected some life into Hunter's attack, as he consistently sought opportunities to test the opposing goalkeeper. However, the Hawks struggled to convert these chances into goals, finishing the match with 11 total shots but only six on target.

Defensively, Hunter displayed resilience, especially from their back line led by Conor Sullivan, who played the full 90 minutes. Sullivan's positioning and anticipation helped limit some of Saint Elizabeth's chances, though the Hawks ultimately could not keep the opposition from capitalizing on their opportunities.

The second half saw Hunter adjust their strategy, increasing their offensive pressure with more corner kicks and shots. They earned three corner opportunities, but were unable to convert them into goals, reflecting the ongoing struggles in the final third.

Despite the scoreline, the Hawks demonstrated determination and effort, which they will look to build upon in their upcoming games. With a focus on improving their finishing and maintaining defensive solidity, Hunter aims to regroup and bounce back in their next match.
